  • About one in six people ages 14-49 have genital herpes (HSV-2 infection).
  • About 20 million Americans are currently infected with HPV, and another 6 million are infected each year. At least 50% of sexually active men/ women get it at some point in their lives.
  • It’s estimated that 2.8 million Chlamydia infections occur each year in the United States.
  • An estimated 700,000 people contract gonorrhea in the United States each year.
  • More than one million people are living with HIV in the U.S., and one in five (21%) of those people don’t know they have it. About 56, 300 Americans become infected with HIV each year, 18,000 people with AIDS die every year.
